Tenuate is a medicine used to decrease appetite in over weight patients.
For maximum effects, Tenuate must be used in conjunction with a diet and exercise program.
Tenuate is usually taken for a short (8—12 weeks) period of time.
Tenuate comes as a regular and extended-release (long-acting) tablet.
Take the regular tablets of this medication by mouth, usually 3 times a day 1 hour before meals or as directed by your doctor. If late-night eating is a problem, your doctor may direct you to take another dose in the evening. Taking this medication late in the day may cause trouble sleeping (insomnia).
The extended-release (long-acting) tablet of Tenuate is usually taken once a day in the mid-morning. Swallow this medication whole. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets. Doing so can destroy the long action of the drug and may increase side effects.
